And the vintage goodness keeps rollin' in...

It's gonna be a busy Sunday, and I'm excited! I don't know what's been goin' on lately, but I'm still rollin' along on my vintage roll!! I've gotten some incredible finds lately (some I still need to show you) and will apparently keep on rolling along tomorrow! (It's usually this way...big rolls and then big dry spells).

So anyways, here's a taste of what I'm picking up tomorrow on my 6 hour (ish) road trip!

Stop 1: 4 x 6 lightweight utility trailer
Ok this may not seem like much, but it's a great deal at $125, and will be kind of necessary for picking everything else up (along with many vintage finds in the future). It's small, but just big enough to fenangle a sofa on if I need too, and perfect for towing behind my Festiva.

Stop 2: 50's Dinette Set
Ok ok ok I really don't need this, but... it's $25! How can I resist! And actually now that I think of it, I don't have a full red set with chairs, and I do need one for my mom's house. I'll get this, but I promise I'll sell my other girl to make room!

Stop 3: 60's Yellow Armchairs
And I love these 60's chairs! The fact that one's just a wee bit taller makes all the difference! Asking $50, but we'll see how low he can go... (and for the record, I do need these for the living room!)

Stop 4: Set of 6 Chairs
Ok these I don't technically need, but I just love how out of balance they are! I mean, I almost kind of need them...ish. These are a maybe...we'll see what happens...

Stop 5: Pink Stove!!!
And the piece de resistance... the whole reason I'm taking this ridiculous 6 hour trip in the first place, this gorgeous PINK 50's stove!!!! (I think it's a Westinghouse). I've been looking for a pink one forever that was reasonable, and I'm pretty sure I can get this one (which works good!) for $150...

And ok this technically won't be on the same trip, but I might be picking up this super Jetsonsy aqua dental chair from the 50's/early 60's on tuesday!

So anyways, it'll be a looong day! Wish me luck!!

I hate to do one of these posts, but...

PLEASE go here and vote!!! (no really... pretty please??)

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is in this online voting thingy to get a ton of money (I think 200k). They've been doing good, but are now BEHIND by ONE...freakin'...POINT! On the very very last day! I hate simply doing a post telling you to go somewhere and vote (especially since do I EVER have new vintage finds to blog about!) but the National Trust is really important, especially to saving a lot of the vintage and historic structures we love so much! While of course they work a lot to save many buildings over a hundred years old, they also work hard preserving and saving midcentury and googie architecture, which really goes hand in hand with a lot of the vintage furniture and goodies we're saving everyday. So anyways, please go, register, vote, and then do it all again under a fake name and friend's email! *cough* didn't come from me *cough*.

Aren't those places awesome?? You could be saving places like that if you vote!

And in an attempt to relate this somewhat to my normal posts after all this rallying haha, here's an awesome diner chair I got for $3 at a yard sale today!! She's in awesome condition under the dirt, and she just sent in her application to work behind my desk!

Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall...

WooHOO!!!! I've finally found one!!! I have been looking for one of these 50's mirror/shadowbox beasts forever! The first time I saw one was 3 or 4 years ago...I had loved vintage cars and architecture up to that point, but it was that mirror that opened my eyes to the broader vintage world...

How can you not love her??? She's so glamorous, over-the-top, unnecessary (in the best way possible) and just screams 50's amazingness with a touch of glitzy kitschness...

She's just got so much goin' on...and I LOVE it. Starbursts and speckles and 50's scribble with angles and mirrors and chicken-wire and shelves and boxes and ahh!

I will admit I drove a wee bit far to get her (*cough* Pittsburgh*), but in my defense I got a lot of other stuff on the same trip! But here's the kicker... she was $50!! (which is more than worth it to me!). She's missing one little section of mirror, BUT the guy then says "If you want, I have a couple similar ones with the same speckled mirror from the same company.. you can make 2 perfect ones from the 3...". My mouth just about dropped! Two others?!? Here's the next best one, IMHO...

Isn't it awesome?? The other is still my favorite, but I love the little speckled spheres and the fact that it's asymmetrical!

I couldn't get the best picture of the 3rd, but this one will be donating a couple of speckled mirror strips to the other 2 (some strips are already removed)...

And to honor this wondrous occasion, why not an awesome 1930's episode involving the true Snow White (Miss Betty Boop), Cab Calloway, and another magical mirror...

Vintage gods, why must thou tempt me?

Oooh vintage gods why must thou tempt me??? Why must thou dangle afforable vintage amazingness before my eyes when I already have so much? To fully understand my suffering, I will show you...show you what temptations lie before me...(and you too since I'm not gettin' all of this!)

First...

Awesome set of chairs...I could use a full set, and I love the fabric/zigzag thing!

Awesome PINK sofa set! Color's a bit distorted in pics...it's NOT hot pink, or worn (it's just dusty in pics)

Awesome 50's mermaid shower doors! (there's a pair!) And I can never get enough of those mint green sinks...

Love this sofa...I don't know why...it's just flamingo-ish to me...I guess the color, and bold so-bad-its-good (at least in my opinion!) fabric!

Awesome 40's diner booth! And I'm not the biggest fan of that sofa's fabric, but I think she's got good bones..(her left side's jusst a bit bigger ha!)

And LOVE both of these below! A 30's deco Rattan sofa set! (sofa and other armchair go with it!). It needs cushions and a bit of love, but I love the ridiculous height of the arms (much higher than otherwise almost identical sets I've seen), not to mention these usually go for insane prices! And I also LOVE that lil wrought iron girl! She has 5 sisters! I love that skinny little waist and exaggerated top..

And finally, I think this is so cute! A little closet-thing-a-ma-jig originally used by a vintage gas company!

And just for the heck of it, lets play a game...

Lets see if you can guess what's the highest and lowest priced... To start off...the highest is asking $300 (would probably take $200), lowest is $25.... What do ya think?

Some new goodies!

I'm still here!!! Just thought you should know... I haven't been posting regularly for a while, so I gotta apologize for that. It's the end of the semester, and between school and just general craziness the blog had to take a back seat for a while...

BUT I'm now glad to announce you're riding shotgun with me once again! My last final is tomorrow at 8am (It's not like I'm not procrastinating studying or anything like that while writing this...pshhh nooo), and then I'm freeeee!!

And I figured it's time I started to update ya'll on everything! I may have been out it a bit with the blogs and my social life, but that doesn't mean the flow of vintage has slowed down! (I'm too much of an addict for that). I've gotten a ton of stuff since I posted last, so I figured why not show you some of the more recent goodies!...

Aren't these awesome?? Ok I'm technically lying when I say they're all new, cause the green pair was just hidden in storage forever till I found them recently. The grey-ish one I got last week for $10 (ten dollars!). I think I paid $15 for the green pair whenever I got them. The green lamps are just adorable together, and the atomic metal work and shade on the other one is fantastic...

And below is my prized new TV! A late 50's Philco Predicta!!! I've been keeping an eye out for one of these forever.... it's not perfect, and needs to be cleaned up (I don't know if it works), but it's so awesome! I paid- I try not to spend this much usually, but I thought it was a good deal- $45!

And then comes a great Craigslist find for $10...the awesome 50's PINK sink and toilet below! The sink is missing a knob, but for $10 I can't complain.. PLUS I've got a lead on intact vintage 50's pink/grey subway tiles for super cheap to go with it!!

And I just LOVE the girl below! That color...ohhh.... She's in mint condition, and is just gorgeous... I wanted to spend $50 on her, but the lady wouldn't go that low so I splurged and went to $80... but I think my friend Wendy is interested in buying her for her church in NY, so she may be going up there!

As wonderful and amazing as all of that is, getting it without the truck has been interesting... Actually, I only recently had the truck, but for those 3 months I became so spoiled! I could pick up anything, no limitations, no measuring, nothing! I don't have money for a new truck, so I said ahhh fluff it! And I got a hitch put on my Festiva!

And yes, you can indeed put a hitch on a 1988 Ford Festiva!

Just think of the possibilities...think of the vintage stuff I can tow!....Me and a trailer could be a dangerous combination...
