When I saw the photo of the sink and the description on craigslist, I knew instantly it was what I was looking for. I've been looking for an old farmhouse sink like this, and while I always dreamed of a colored one, there's so hard to find (and so expensive!), I figured I had no chance... Needless to say, I acted quickly.
I didn't have much hope at first...I had emailed the seller, and when she didn't get back to me the second time I assumed it was sold... For the heck of it, I emailed once more (pesky craigslister that I am) and she actually got back to me, saying she missed my previous emails! Long story short, I drove 2 1/2 hours up near Philly to pick the sink up and now here I am! I ended up getting her for $300, which is a lot for me, but pretty cheap when you look at what similar sinks go for!
And this is one of those great craigslist stories where its even better in person... The color was off in the pics on the ad, but when I got there my dreams were confirmed -it was that sick sweet soft mint green in pristine condition! Plus, it came with a faucet that wasn't mentioned in the ad! The faucet's a repro, but still good.
So, anyways, here she is in all her glory! She actually fits perfectly in the corner I need a sink in(speaking of which- my kitchen plans have changed since my last kitchen post- I'll have to update with a new post sometime)
Original craigslist photo:
Sneak Peak of other kitchen stuff: Mint green fridge to left, upper cabinets above! (part of a bigger set!).
Wow, that looks great - congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWowee! I didn't even know that they came in that color! A dream indeed. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThat colour is mid-century perfection, Nick, stellar find!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your comment on Chronically Vintage's new look, I really appreciate it and am glad to know you like the serene, pared down appearance more, too.
Wishing you a fantastic weekend,

Thanks for the comments everyone! I can't stop looking at her I'm so excited... The kitchen's gonna be one of the first things I start working on, so hopefully by mid-summer I'll start to have some before and after pics... (right now its all "before" haha...)
ReplyDeleteWonderful :D
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sink! It looks like it is in great condition. Can't wait to see your finished kitchen.
ReplyDeleteA classic type of sink with a classic faucet as well – that’s double the pleasure for you. If I own something like that, I’ll put some unique accessories like a toothbrush holder, faucet spray for the head, and sink strainer basket, just to maximize its potential! You’re super lucky to own the sink of your dreams. =)

I love the soap dish standing on the top of the faucet! Aside from the cool looks, that wonderful sink must be pretty handy because of the built-in things right there, especially that platform on the left side, which is useful to stack unclean/clean plates without having to occupy too much space of the kitchen counter top. I hope to see that thing installed very soon!

Aw! It perfectly suits the green theme in your kitchen! Just love the simplicity and purity of the sink. Truly a GORGEOUS piece! I bet, you’ll make sure to take care of this sink by keeping it from clogging. Please do, Nick! Hehe ;)

I’m a fan of farmhouse sinks, too, Nick. Nice to know you! :) You have a good eye for color and quality, I must say. I think the sink would blend well with the cabinets. Were they in chalk paint? Your kitchen would be iconic, I can see.

ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with your sink. LOL. Why cant they make things like this anymore?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning and oh so charming ! Lucky you and what a STEAL !!! I'm so in love with these vintage sinks, I own a 3 story 1911 home that was once a boarding home and I would love to restore our kitchen in a similar style as your vintage finds but the way my kitchen is situated, my sink is in the corner and I can't change it ! Would you happen to know if they make a similar style in a corner sink ??? Thanks for a peek into your world.
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart. If that sink was your man, I'd be a homewrecker. So glad it will have a new life where it will be truly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this! What a great find!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful find. It remains in my dream book.
ReplyDeleteThe house I grew up in in Pennsylvania had a sink just like that in the kitchen. I always liked the way it looked, and I think the family who bought the house from my parents still have it.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! You lucky person. Enjoy.
